Electrical Infrastructure Inspections

From $2,950 + GST*

Independent electrical infrastructure inspections for commercial and industrial facilities in Brisbane, South East Queensland and across Queensland. Identify concerns and plan your next move.

Inspection and written report by an Engineer, including a thermal scan, power quality recording using a Fluke 1775 power quality analyser, and prioritised recommendations.

Why arrange an electrical inspection?

Want confidence that your electrical infrastructure is safe? An engineering inspection helps identify visible safety concerns, deterioration and areas that need further testing or corrective action.

Power quality issues? Equipment tripping, flickering lights, overheating or unexplained interruptions can point to problems that need investigation.

Expanding or installing new equipment? Understand your existing electrical capacity and the changes needed before adding machinery, solar, batteries or EV charging.

Recurring electrical problems? Repeated faults, unreliable equipment or concerns about ageing switchboards and wiring deserve a clear engineering assessment.

Planning maintenance or investment? Identify priorities, understand the condition of your infrastructure and make informed decisions about repairs and upgrades.

Support insurance and risk reviews? A documented inspection and evidence of corrective work can help demonstrate how you manage electrical risks. This may support discussions about cover, terms or potential premium reductions, subject to your insurer’s requirements and assessment.

Reduce the risk of lost production? Identify electrical concerns before they contribute to equipment failure, unplanned shutdowns, damaged stock or interrupted operations. Prioritised recommendations help you plan corrective work and reduce avoidable downtime.

How we assess your installation

An Engineer inspects your electrical infrastructure and undertakes measurements during the site visit.

The inspection includes a thermal scan of safely accessible equipment and power quality recording using a Fluke 1775 power quality analyser at agreed measurement points. We review switchboards, distribution, equipment condition, loading, phase balance, power factor, protection arrangements and recorded power quality conditions.

We assess the findings against your concerns, operating requirements and planned changes, then provide a written engineering report with prioritised findings and recommendations.

The standard package includes up to three hours onsite. Longer-term recording, detailed testing, protection modelling and specialist investigations are separately scoped where needed. A separate detailed thermal imaging report is available as an optional extra. We can discuss which additional services would best support your needs and help you decide what is worthwhile for your installation.

Clear findings and practical next steps

You receive a written engineering report explaining the observations, significant risks, capacity constraints and recommended actions, with priorities for maintenance, further investigation or upgrades.

We explain the findings and help you plan the next steps. Energy-efficiency and power-quality investigations can be included or coordinated where needed.

Support from assessment through delivery

We provide engineering design and specifications, equipment-selection advice, independent reviews of designs and supplier proposals, and advice on infrastructure changes for new equipment.

Client-side engineering project management can include procurement support, contractor coordination, shutdown planning, installation oversight and commissioning support.

Where investment decisions require it, we can develop an investment-grade assessment of options, costs, energy savings, payback and risks.

* Standard inspection package — scope and pricing

From $2,950 + GST ($3,245 including GST) for one commercial or light-industrial site, with up to three hours onsite, photographs of relevant findings, a thermal scan of agreed safely accessible equipment during the visit, and a written engineering report with prioritised recommendations.

Proposed standard coverage: one main switchboard, up to two distribution boards and a visual review of up to five nominated machines or major electrical loads, within the three-hour visit. Coverage is confirmed before booking and depends on equipment size, complexity, condition and safe access. Machinery review concerns visible electrical infrastructure and interfaces; internal machine safety and functional-safety assessments require a separate scope.

Larger sites, additional switchboards or machines, multiple buildings, complex installations or restricted access may require more time and a tailored fee. Travel and any additional scope are identified in the quotation before work proceeds.

The base package combines an engineering inspection, thermal scanning and power quality recording during the visit, using agreed safely accessible equipment and measurement points. Detailed electrical testing, a separate thermal imaging report, continuous power-quality logging, HV work, shutdowns, protection modelling or circuit-breaker setting calculations, certification, design work and a recorded review or summary video are separately scoped and priced.

The report describes the agreed inspection scope, observations and limitations. It is not a certificate of compliance for the whole installation or a substitute for testing needed to establish concealed conditions.

Thermal scan included: a thermal scan of agreed switchboards, connections and safely accessible electrical equipment is included within the three-hour onsite allowance, where operating loads and access permit useful scanning. Significant observations are noted in the standard inspection report.

Optional extra — thermal imaging report: a separate report with thermal images, equipment identification, recorded temperatures, assessment of findings and recommended actions is available for an additional quoted fee. Thermal scanning does not replace electrical testing or reveal every fault.

Power quality recording included: recording using a Fluke 1775 power quality analyser at agreed, safely accessible measurement points during the onsite inspection. The report summarises the recorded conditions and significant observations. Recording is limited to the visit and conditions observed; intermittent events may require longer monitoring. Extended unattended logging, installation and retrieval visits, and detailed event analysis are separately scoped and quoted.

Optional extra — engineering review: review of drawings, technical documents, existing designs and supporting calculations is separately scoped and quoted. It is not included in the standard onsite inspection package.

Optional extra — electrical modelling and circuit-breaker settings review: modelling of the electrical system and checking whether circuit-breaker protection settings are appropriate for the installation, including fault levels and protection coordination where required. This engineering review is separately scoped and quoted; changing settings or implementing recommendations is additional work.

Electrical inspection questions

What does the standard inspection cost? The standard package starts at $2,950 + GST ($3,245 including GST), subject to the package conditions above.

Who carries out the inspection and report? An Engineer inspects the installation and prepares the written engineering report.

Are thermal scanning and power quality recording included? Yes. The standard onsite visit includes thermal scanning and Fluke 1775 power quality recording at suitable safely accessible points. Extended recording and a separate detailed thermal report are optional extras.

Can you check drawings and circuit-breaker settings? Drawing and design reviews, electrical modelling and detailed circuit-breaker settings checks are available as separately quoted engineering services.

Can you help implement the recommendations? We provide design, specifications, equipment selection and independent reviews, infrastructure advice and client-side engineering project management.
